Humphrey the cat served as the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office at 10 Downing Street for a number of years. He successfully kept mice at bay between 1988 and 1997, when he went on to a new home. Humphrey died in 2006 at a grand old age. Humphrey moved out soon after Tony Blair became president amid reports that Cherie Blair might be allergic to cats.

In 2007, a new cat called Sybil made Number 10 her home. Sadly Sybil died in 2009 after less than two years in Downing Street, and Number 10 hasn’t had another cat since. Recent events at Number 10 suggest it’s about time a new Chief Mouser was appointed…

During some television broadcasts, a rat has been spotted in the background scuttling across the porch of Number 10! The presence of the ratty visitor has led to whisperings that David Cameron might be getting a cat.

If 10 Downing Street was once again home to a Chief Mouser, we reckon they’d probably want to install a SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap! A microchip cat flap would keep unwanted cats (and rats) from wandering in off the street.

If a SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap was installed at Number 10, where do you think David Cameron would put it? Does Number 10 have a back door? Maybe SureFlap could be installed in the famous black door at the front of the building? Perhaps we should bring out a black version of the SureFlap…
